Wasp nest....
My life holds few distinctions. So when we found an enormous yellow jacket hive in our back yard, Of course I am going to blog about it! Ironically, this summer had not been bad for wasps--then they came out in a blaze in about September. I kept walking around the house looking in the eves for nests, but never did find one. One day I was outside when I happened to look up and watch a yellow jacket's flight path. It flew straight into a huge nest at the top of our hedges. I hadn't seen it before because the leaves blocked the view. But with the leaves falling, we could see it. I would like to go on the record saying that I wanted to just leave it for a few weeks till we had a good cold snap and they died on their own. Levi felt we should be a little more proactive about it. He read that they can't fly if it is below 50 degrees outside. So last Saturday morning, when the temperature was about 30 degrees he and Bridger went out cut it down, saturated it in lighter fluid and torched the dang thing. I refused to join in the "fun" as I figured once the nest started burning, it would quickly warm up to past 50 degrees and I envisioned a swarm of wasps coming out to get me. The boys came in elated. Two of their favorite things...danger and fire.

Fall frenzie
So it has literally been a month since I posted anything new. It has been a little busy around here. I have been coaching Bailey's soccer team and just started being a den leader for Bridger's scouting den. So here is a few of the fun things that happened in September (with a couple of pictures too)! Levi had his birthday and got his CMA and got a promotion--yeah! Bridger is LOVING Mrs. Fay and has recently informed me that he will be going as "Boss" this year--next year I will be able to call him Bridger again. Bailey is loving kindergarten, friends, etc. She just lost her front tooth! Kes is loving having my undivided attention (when I am not babysitting) and playing with Wally when I am watching him. She has recently also informed me that she is too busy to take a nap. (Sorry--she'll have to push Barbies back till after nap). :) I have been busy with canning and raking leaves and who knows what else--definitely not blogging!
